Refined zinc metal surplus contracts, inventories increase in Q1, says ILZSG

Global refined zinc metal was in surplus by 42,000 tonnes in the first three months of 2016 and total reported inventories rose by 56,000 tonnes over the same period, according to the latest data from the International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG).

This is compared with 140,000 tonnes of oversupply and 180,000 tonnes of inventory decrease over the same period of 2015. World zinc mine production in the March quarter was at 2.984 million tonnes, down 5% year-on-year.
