The Symposium I - Solutions for critical raw materials under extreme conditions at the 2017 E-MRS Fall Meeting will be held in Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) on September 18-21, 2017.

Co-organized by the COST Action CRM-EXTREME, the Network of Infrastructures EXTREME, and the EIP Raw Materials commitment SUBST-EXTREME, the symposium aims to provide a unique platform to a wide range of international researchers and companies who are engaged in performing cutting edge multidisciplinary research on strategic critical raw materials (CRMs) substitution, new materials design, LCA, recycling, and technological solutions for circular economy, for applications of CRMs under challenging conditions of temperature, wear, friction, loading, and corrosion.

The Symposium will cover topics like: understanding the role of CRMs in different materials (e.g. cemented carbide wear resistant tool materials, surface coatings and steel alloys, high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel, high-temperature Ni-based superalloys, precious metals (PGMs), etc.), design, recovery, recycling and innovative technologies for materials under extreme condition in different industrial sectors (machinery manufacturing, transportation, energy, constructions, etc.).
